912 MAG Problem

Postby DAK » Mon Aug 17, 2009 7:23 pm

Hello Gents
Have a strange intermittent problem on one of my MAGS .....
One won't switch off .... have replaced the wiring and mag switches 3 times.
Resistance to earth is just 0.3 Ohms measured at the electronic module.

Has anyone ever had this before ?
If a new electronic module was affordable I'd get one ... has anyone got used modules from a scrap 912 ?
Spares for this engine are really expensive.

Many Thanks
Dak

We have had a few over the years where the wire actually broke off inside the insulation right where it enters the module. It was typically intermittant and when the wires were "jiggled" you could pick up the fault.

If you still struggle we have a few spare modules from a engine we will overhaul in a week or so.
