Cell Phones on Trikes

Postby Bayliner » Sat Jul 11, 2009 1:31 pm

Hi All

Is it possible to connect a cell phone to the comms on a trike. If so how would it work, specific phone required or not, connections needed, legal or not etc. etc.
Has anybody done this before?

I have my cell phone connected to my headphones and this works very well for me. I hope it is not illegal because I use it regularly. Our airfield lies behind the Langeberg mountains and some days we struggle to get communication with Cape Town ATC. I then phone them and get a sqwak code. Also, Overberg ATC prefers that you phone them before entering their TMA, so I phone them while airborne. However, I don't use it to make other non flight related calls while flying. Oh, and I also use my cellphone as MP3 player to play background music while flying.
