Aquilla 1 wing

Postby kiwilad » Sun Jun 28, 2009 9:57 am

First time assenbling the wing, the ribs got a bit of TLC from customs,so I paired them up (black tape to the right ) and shaped them to the more curved of the pair.Fitted all the curved battons ( bungeyed in) fitted the 4 straight battons in the 2nd an 4th velcroed pockets, but where do the half battons fit,and what is this about adjustable wing cups _?

Would suggest you get a copy of the batten profiles from Solo Wings and curve back to factory specification. Can make a huge impact by having incorrectly shaped battens. In fact think you are meant to check the profiles back to the chart every few months as they do flatten with time.

The half battens are bottom surface battens - look for the pockets on the underside of the wing.

The adjustable cups at the ends are to trim the wing to get it flying straight. There is a rule of thumb about which side to adjust that was coupled to the speed at which the trim was worst - just cant recall the exact details. Was published in the MISASA mag a few years back.
