How often do you guys change the coolant and what brand do you use and mix 50/50?
Tips and a short easy way of doing it will be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: 912 Coolant Change
Once a year. No mix 50/50 anymore. New manual says pure anti freeze, rust, boil............

Re: 912 Coolant Change
Not sure of your installation. Loosen the lowest point in the water system. If the radiator is low, then loosen one of the pipes, otherwise you have to remove the bottom bolt of the waterpump, look at the back of the motor, at the bottom there is the waterpump with all the pipes. The bottom bolt is the drain plug for the motor. remove it completely. Don't loose the washer.CloudDancer wrote:How often do you guys change the coolant and what brand do you use and mix 50/50?

I use Castrol Antifreeze/Antiboil (http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp_in ... tiBoil.pdf) available from any Midas. I mix it 50/50 with distilled water. You need just over two liters which means you have to buy two 1 liter bottles. If you use neat antifreeze expect the engine to run hotter by up to 10 degrees
Replacement recommendation as per Maintenance Manual, every 2 years.

Re: 912 Coolant Change
Boet, confirm if I use Castrol All Climate Antifreeze, it is already pre-mixed, and no need to dilute with 50% water?
Re: 912 Coolant Change
If you use coolant neat, expect your CHT temps to be about 10deg C higher. I would only recommend this with a 1.2bar radiator cap. Pure coolant, does not dissipate heat as effectively as 50/50 mix
