Weight Shift Training in Plett?

Postby Pilot Pete » Thu Jun 26, 2008 8:33 pm

Going to Plett for the next 2 weeks and would like to do conversion to weight shift. Does anyone know if there is an instructor/flying school there. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Contact Mark Porter once you are there - dont have a number for him. Runs a training school from Plett.

Last time I checked Mark had sold most of the trikes and was running the PPL/Com school. His number was...0445339179 Outeniqua Flight Training Academy

Also keen to do trike flying while down there in Aug, but last year the WX was too K@K almost every day :|

Trike boys insurance was not that keen I dont think to let this RYDAAR footed push when he should pull driver loose on his new expensive aussie 912 dri hoekie koelie koekie....     Was more mist and rain than wind. I can liaaak to fly in the wind........ (**)

Thanks for all the advice but back in Hermanus already. Unable to do conversion but had an hour in the air with a buddy. Enjoyed trike but kept going left instead of right and up instead of down. Usually fly Hawk from Botriver so used to wind and big rocks in the area. Wish we had an airfield like Plett!

Is the trike school still there?

PS
Plett has had it's fair share on K@K as well....

Not as far as I could gather. Guy I flew with said that Mark Porter would be able to help and offered his trike for me to use but weather put paid to that idea. Still would like to learn so need to look at school in Western Cape. I think a good idea to learn in conditions similar to what you are likely to operate in.

Every time I been there I have had same problem. Guys are happy to fly in the conditions but not always do training...

PS
Always better to learn where you gonna fly. Confidence booster...
