Thanx

I also wanted to check out Raptor trikes on the web, I've seen them at Vereeniging and they look big and sturdy. Let me know if you manage to get a brochure etc. as I'm also keen.

Told him time and time again. Presence at fly-inns and airshows will pay off, but hey what do we know?

I took delivery of a Raptor at Manfred's factory end of Feb this year. It's a great plane and a joy to fly. Talk to the man and go visit his factory - I flew from Cape Town to do it. Would have been cheaper to read brochures and browse a website - but his products really tell the story!

HI Guys,

I have recently sold my Aquilla and ordered me a Raptor. I expect to take delivery in two weeks time. I hanger at Pyramid airfield and there are quite a few Raptors there. They are really very sturdy trikes and the guys who fly them are very happy with them. I can't wait!!! :P

If you google "aviate raptor" you will find a simple web site with some information.

I agree though, athe manufacturer should advertise/market more.

Cheers.

One of my instructors loved this trike - Raptor - I forgot to ask why as it was looooong ago, but I now need to ask a few dumb questions

What makes this trike any better than the others available or even compared to Aquilla, Windlass or Safari's?

Was there really a market in designing a new trike that IMHO according to the pics looks like a Safari or large Windlass? And all with similiar pricing and same engines? :? What was WRONG with the existing ones that meant a new one had to come out? Somebody please give honest, logical comparisons -0< -0<

I can understand the diff with Demons' KWK...cause it looks radically different.

Please dont get me wrong I'm NOT ripping off the product, but how about some head 2 head stuff do help us noob's know what to look out for?

Suspension better because...
Hydraulic brakes
Windlass - No
Raptor - Yes
etc.

IMHO it comes down to personal preference. The well known SA trikes are all reliable and sturdy machines. You fly with what you are comfortable.

I have had Windlass, Aquilla and Cobra.

My experience: The Aquilla offers more comfortable seating than the Windlass, but flying characteristics are very much the same. I have not flown Aquilla 2 wing, but find Solo Wing's wings very forgiving.

The Cobra (with Profi wing) is faster than Aquilla, and as comfortable, but wing is not as forgiving. The wing is very light in pitch and roll. Also very effective in ground effect (floats quite far, so easy to run out of runway). Cobra definitely uses more runway than Aquilla with same engine.

Never flown Rapter, but understood that the wing is much similar to Profi. Quick and light. Undercarriage looks very robust.

Biggest difference between an Aerotrike Safari (with Aeros wing) and a Raptor for me was the fact that you needed tools to break the wing down, on my Safari all is done by hand (except the bolt that tightens the spreader bar)

My 12 monthly AP due, I ask the manufacturer to inspect my trike.

A week later, Manfred flies through with a mate over the weekend on his time to complete and have a breakfast

Requiring 2 minor foot peddle bushes, after wanting to just post to me, Manfred phone Sunday morning' There' 3 of us planes and a gyro, we're coming for breakfast and to fit your spares'

Unfortunately, restaurant closed, but after 5 minute fitting and quick braai they were gone.

Great crowd, unmatched for service.
