Does anyone know if there is any impact on trikes regarding new aviation law that apparently gets into working on sunday 01/02/09??
I only have about 2 hours training left.......

Yes there is a new license coming and a new regulatory authority. The bad news is - yes it starts on the 2nd of February and you will at best have a couple of weeks after that to get your license on the old rules. By around the 3rd week in February you will have to do it under the new regulations which means writing the online tests etc. Your instructor should really have been aware of all this and known what to do.

I was in the air, so have some questions of my own...

As far as authority to fly is concerned, at last nights WCMC meeting it was said that RAASA is now going to administer this. Furthermore, it was said, APs are now insured for their work, provided that the AP, and the owner of the microlight being APed are members of Aeroclub.

I am not sure whether RAASA will issue an ATF to a plane where the owner is not a member of Aeroclub?

As I understand it, you do not have to be a member of MISASA, but you have to be a member of Aeroclub?

Is RAASA also going to administer licencing?

Raasa will initially only handle licenses and ATF and registration stays with CAA for the moment. The next implementation of RAASA will be the ATF.

You can't only belong to Aeroclub you also have to belong to a sub section and the one suitable for your flying is MISASA.

I'm in a similar pickle. Busy training. I have written my exams (and passed) but now it looks as if I'll have to redo them online! Not sure where I stand. Thanks for all the advice.

Unneccesary At any one time there are new members joining who do not have your history

You still have a few days left, you can do the 2 hours in one day. If you have already written your exams at the school then you won't have to wright online.
