ICE (In Case OF Emergency)

Thought I would pass this circular on from a Komani email requesting all members to enter ICE into there phones, not sure how to attach it but the important message is to enter into your cell phone under the name ICE or ICE1 ICE2 ICE3, a contact number of spouse/friend/relative so that in the event of an emergency your cell phone will speak for you.
This idea was put into motion by a Paramedic after noticing that most cases he attended the patient had a cell phone but the patient was not able to communicate with the medic. With ICE on your phone Paramedics know where to look for a number and contact someone that knows the patient and get valueable information about the patient, ie if he/she has allergies or is on medication.

Was probably a great idea in 2006 when it originated. From there the rumour was it developed into a scam and that if you had ICE on your phone some half dead leper strapped to a tree in botswana could access your phone and make free calls. Clearly that wasnt the case so ya - i think ICE is a great idea. Ice and your next of kin, first thing the paramedics look for...
