DIY Helmets (UK)

Postby ZULU1 » Wed Nov 26, 2008 6:32 am

This site is worth a look for the fellows looking for an alternative helmet. Based on a Bike open face unit. The kits are designed to interface with LYNX and Micro Avionics gear. They asked if we could help so we obliged...

Worth a look and still under construction.

Could be very effective with a Gyro.

For those based in the UK they fly from Manchester (Barton), they would be willing to show you the results.

Hi Zulu1

Very interesting.

I already bought myself two openface helmets, for the purpose of building an old headset into it. Cost of helmet R 350, and old headset for free. Just can't justify buying an AVIATION helmet, lower standards - I presume - and less material for over a grand, up to two grand. :?

Regarding helmets that work, the UK chaps have been buying from Aldi for about £60,00 they have all the DOT approvals and whatever else is required. I am not in a position to advise as I have no input other than the PC boards, cables and so on. I suggest keep watching the site regularly as its going to end up (I think) as a forum..Interesting project for someone with time.
