I have heard down the elusive grapevine that Mike Cathro has resigned from Messrs SACAA
Is this vine of information to be believed..... ? Can someone confirm this just for interest sake....

Not knowing the gentleman, what I would really like to know is whether this is good news or bad news for the industry?

Hi
Lousy Navigator,
Mike Cathro and Braam Hechter paid us a visit at Light Flight last week.
Nice guys - they enjoyed their boerie rolls.
Mike Cathro has resigned and wef 1 November 2008, he will vacate his office at CAA.
Kind regards

Before all the speculation takes place (forums in general are know for that), Mike has accepted a position in another company. There is nothing sinister going on, there never has been and this is a pure career move for Mike. I personally think this is neither good nor bad (until we hear who his replacement will be!!) news. I feel that Mike has many years experience in flying and that we can all learn from people like him; I think that he will be missed at CAA as he bought another perspective to play in his experience in the GA / Microlighting field.
I wish him all the best in his new company and do hope that he will stay in touch with us and let us know how he is doing.
Mike, I do hope to see you at Light Flight soon so that we can tan some meat and have a few ales.

When I did my training on the Jab some years ago in Bloem, Mike was my instructor, and I only have praise for him.
He also took me for a few finishing touches on trike flying, and in 12 years he was probably the instructor that taught me the most about flying, if he learn you something, he always give you a practical explanantion on why you should do it that way.
His resignation will surely be a big loss for CAA.
We wish him all the best of luck for his new positon!
