Africa Cup 24-28 Sept - Numbi PARKING?

It looks this year's event is going to be a super buster and I am looking forward to it.
The one concern I have is parking, and last year I saw some awefull 'airmanship' on the ground when it came to the utilisation of the limited parking space.

some guys got really hot under the collar if you parked anywhere close the them, wanting the whole free space to themselves including unlimited access.
I think we should come up with a concerted parking plan for this year, making sure we double or tripple park airplanes, so that everyone can enjoy it.
If the groups stay together and tripple park as close as possible together, I think we will have enough space. You fly in anycase with your buddies so your group will move out at the same time limiting your inconvenience?
What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
Groete
Rudi

Onthou om in Lydenburg te stop vir koffie op pad Numbi toe voordat julle die berge aanpak.
Laat weet net hoe laat, en of julle brandstof nodig het.
Dit sal 'n voorreg wees om julle te ontvang.
groete
Chris

In the past, before the fence went up it was no problemo, lots of space along the tree line above the taxi way, there is another gate by the camping area, just need permission to park there

Parking is always a problem at Numbi. This can however be overcome with n bit of airmanship and no effort at all! Like Rudi said we mostly fly in groups, so double park like the nice guys from Springs last year

. I was in that group and it was no effort all! There were a few guys that didnt want to share parking and left the others fighting trees and bushes to get a parking spot.

See photo above! Springs parked 5 trikes in half the space the trikes in the photo used!
If you just double park your group there will be no problem this year.

Actually parking at Numbi in the past was never a problem. I have been going for over 20 years. Previous years we even had over 50 planes. There were planes parked all the the way down the runway. Near the hangars and camp site. No problem. The problem is everyone tries to park in the same area closest to the hotel. There simply is not enough space. Like any situation like this. The early birds get the better parking.
The Rietfontein guys arrived late at the Battlefields fly in. We had to park a good distance away. We did not double park and inconvenience other pilots. We did not complain. Just good airmainship.
But I do recall the author of this thread getting hot under the collar at Numbi last year because we had arrived early and had taken up some of the nice close parking.
Sorry guys. You arrive late. You dont get the prime spots. Life is tough!!
Note: There is and will be roving security at Numbi this year again.

Agreed Rudi, difficult one to coordinate. I must agree with BIG-G, the problem is everyone scrabbling for the parking near the hotel and gate at the runway. Groups doubling up along the runway toward the hangers will solve the problem. First come, first serve, with no white and red tape hanging around

seems to be acceptable arrangement.
Hope its full moon on the 24th for a nice early start, ETD 03:00am

Hi Big,
I think you are confusing me and us with someone else, we arrived before you guys, we were one of the first ones on the scene, but the springs guys willingly double parked clear of taxi ways knowingly about the parking situation that will develop, that is what I call good airmanship. The person I am refering to is "rooi willie" from accross the road from us, some heated words were exchanged. Now I now your thinking on the situation..TUFF
Ditto Cobra,
No red tape markers, you are either there with an aircraft marking your spot with tiedowns or not at all.
Good news Demon,
If there are roaming security and parking down the fence then OK. Just did not see people use it before.
I thought I would be nice to discuss it openly, but looks like no-one willing to consider. (So much for being mister nice guy!)
So this year if we get there we are not going to be as considerate as last year...

the race is on!

Just joking, prefer to park around the flashy ones,

I must say it is sad to see some of the replies that were posted on the subject. As I recall it the guys from Springs arrived second after "Rooi Willie" and his mates only to find that the guys from Rietfontein, BIG-G, Demon an others had requested the staff from Numbi to place red tape with registrations on an A4 sheet of paper to reseve parking!!! Is that airmanship Grant?
Springs double parked making sure there was ample space for the Rieties guys even though we were there before you!!!
If that is how the guys want to handle the matter this year it is fine with me!!! I felt Rudi wanted to handle the matter so everyone can be accomidated but I some dont want it that way! Maybe they should rather fly blik aeries as that is the sort of respose you would get from those pilots! If there is any problems with my reply on this matter feel free to contact me at any stage so we can resolve it quickly. 083 253 5563

Can I suggest a solution
Sharks supporters park at another airfield close by and fly in daily. Bulls supporters park as far away from the Hotel as possible and Lions supporters please do not even come. WP supporters park as close as possible to the hotel. This is of course an unbiased attempt to resolve the issue
Seriously though, we are all looking fwd to this and should not let parking become an issue before we get there. I think it was good for Rudi to bring it up if it caused shit last year so lets sort it out. I agree that reserved parking is bullshit. (apologies to any of my mates that may feel otherwise)
I do not want to be parked in though so I think that as long as there is security and we can use the space along the runway (like battlefields) then we should not have a problem. I do not mind parking there as long as my plane is safe. I am also not going to rush there just to get a close parking so early bird gets the worm.

Come on people use your brains a little........
Just ask Willie to quickly put up a 2,000 square metre shed so that everyone can park in the shade

Wooohooo boys. My personal opinion is that I think that the likes of Barry, Grant, Rob etc who have been involved in this wonderful gathering for 20+ years deserve the right to park at the entrance to the hotel and should have honorary parking spots allocated to them. For the rest, first come first serve I reckon. I arrived last, last year and was quite happy with my parking next to the gate under the mango trees. C'mon boys this is a great occasion, lets not get carried away.

OK Nkwazi point taken, being my second year myself and you can double up under the
litchi trees next to the hanger 300m from the hotel
