Hi all

Do not know if this should be under destinations etc. but here goes. I am planning my first cross-country from Aero57 to Rhino on Saturday. Some information about Rhino would be greatly appreciated. Do not want to end up like the guys entering the circuit and screwing up the rest of the guys busy with training. Also, things like landing fees etc.

Hi Piet !

Would be great to see you at Rhino !

The main runway is 09/27, all circuits are flown to the South so when you join overhead @ 6000 you would normally join on RH downwind 09 or LH downwind 27, look at the socks or listen (135.600) to the guys in the circuit, on a Saturday there should be someone around most of the time. There are no landing fees.

It is a friendly field so come and have a chat or a breakfast/coffee !

Lucky man. As ek Saterdag in JHB was het ek jou gejoin, but well, next time. Ek het Sondag se vlieg geniet.

Piet as jy nou da by ons oor Rhino vlieg kyk maar mooi na die temprature en as hulle pla land liewer en drink koffie en gaan dan voort, laat toe dat die ou enjinkie maar effe afkoel en dan weer fort.
Kyk nou hoe leer ek die manne die loopholes, sorry.

Nice trip. You won't regret visiting Rhino on a Saturday morning. Always a buzz. Just watch out for tricky turbulence on 09 if there is a crosswind. The wind can surprise one around those bleddie blue gum trees. Land on the threshold of 09, or veeery deep at the intersection. Usually 09 in the mornings. If 27, land before the intersection, that turbulence again. Keep your eyes peeled, cause you gonna approach and enter through the circuit, but 6 000 ft is fine - circuits usually around 5 300 - 5400 ft. Runways are not marked, attached is a pic.

If you are on 135.60, no problem - Agent just souns like a brombeer - eintlik 'n nice ou.

Dit was lekker Sondag met al die verkillende runways. Ek was lekker moeg na Sondag. Ek beplan om saam met Pieter E n x-country te doen maar hy lyk my wil suide toe vlieg maar ek het gedink n change of scenery sal lekker wees. Ons vlieg nooit oos nie so Rhino behoort bietjie iets anders te wees. Waneer doen jy jou check-out vir jou lisensie?

Hi guys

I almost posted a question to why you guys fly so freaking high!? But I then remembered you guys are up there and me in CPT are down here. Just sounds very odd talking about joining the circuit at 5300 - 5400 ft. I have never even flown higher than that...
