HOUSE RULES of CLUBS

Postby John Boucher » Thu Jun 12, 2008 10:14 am

Hi guys

This a request to members of commitees of aviation clubs ...

We are rejuvenating Kimberley Microlight Club and I have been designated to research what other clubs are doing in terms of House Rules... eg. who can be members, hangar ownership, runway contributions ($$) ($$) ($$) ($$)

If it is possible, could you please furnish me with a copy of your house rules.... vhpy

Shall be highly appreciated! (^^)

Here you go young man , The Constitution of the Western Cape Microlight Club

Runway conditions: Tarred
Hangar ownership: R15K buys you a plot, you put up the Hangar The money is used to improve clubhouses, taxiways etc. There is also a monthly levy paid by each hangar owner to cover electricity, water, rates and taxes. I think it is in the region of a few hundred rand a month. Hangar owners rent out space at about R350 per month

What else do you need

I believe that the Western Cape Microlight Club also have some strict rules about peeing into the wind and a protocol on how to respond to irate wives who's husbands do not make it home on club nights.

Morph, Demon & Skybound.....

Thanks a million guys.

Morph, your constitution is popular - been downloaded some 8 times!

I think all clubs would like to streamline and shape their constitutions to serve all the best!

I tend to like one of the items where it states that a pilot "flying" his aerie into his hangar shall be fined.... AIRMANSHIP!

I like what I read - especially from a safety point of view!

Slightly off topic, but why is it bad airmanship to drive the plane into the hangar?   Excuse my ignorance. I know it get's taught as bad airmanship, but why?

George

Firstly iro rules, go and have a look at the Krugerdorp Flying Club's website. There is a download added by Mauler on the AVCOM thread.

www.fakr.co.za

I have done the 'ride" into hangar thing on occassion but promptly stopped doing it at the thought of becoming preoccupied and forgetting to close the throttle, apply the brakes, run into the wall, smash the prop, bits flying into onlookers, sucking all the dust on mother earth into the engine (albeit air filters) and footing the tab for repairs at a later stage.... in hindsight - POOR AIRMANSHIP.

So why do we look behind the aircraft, on the sides and in front and CALL PROP CLEAR? You don't living objects in the prop and you don't want to cover them in dust, sand and exploding engine parts being dispatched at projectile speed...

Just a thought... use it ... lose it :)

Now that we have touched the topic of AIRMANSHIP

Shouldn't we start a thread to see what we as pilots regard or think is good or poor AIRMANSHIP?

Only reason I ask is that when I did renewal a couple years back I stopped in front of the hangar and cut engine only because i was flying out again as soon as I finished paperwork with examiner. After We finished I told him to leave doors open so i can "pull in" when I get back. He said if I had pulled in after the test he would have failed me.

Situation as follows.
hangar is completely sterile (ie no crap, just plane and sometimes my car)
it has 1.5 meter clearance on each side of wings and 3 meters front and back
concrete floors
HUGE gradient to get into hangar (this is main reason I taxi in as it is impossible to man handle it in alone)

I understand the safety aspects of lookout, prop clear, not blowing dust into hangars etc, but other than denting a wing on way in why the huge issue with taxi into hangars? My hangar is far too big for the plane (but was built that way to allow taxi in as single ops are almost impossible given gradient) Obviously communal hangars would not work.

PS
I never do it with the RV as it easy to move around and I have to get out to open the hangar and it full of my RC crap and viz over nose not great.... Having said that I have never felt like it was a problem with the other aerie? Just curious.

Only reason I can up with is that if you dent the wing you look like an ASS...

Yip. (and more importantly WHY) the action is considered good airmanship. Cos my destructor said so is not a reason...

Hi John & George, seeing as you are getting your clubs up and running, we have a Mini Time Rally here in kuruman on the 28th June, with a 'potjie' afterwards - welcome to join us - we call it the 'Hoenderhaan Rally' as a hoenderhaan doesnt really fly very well but he is alway on time and starts early in the mornings. You will nominate your speed and will be given a time to be @ the given waypoints - only charts! let me know
