How many guys have attended one of Nirren's courses?

Not me but what is the cost and the dates pleas?

I attended the 2-stroke course. He needs to make it a bit more involved, maybe two days and include a strip down and rebuild of a motor. The one I did was really a servicing course , with plugs, carbs etc

I attended one in Port Elizabeth, with a local well respected AP also instructing. We did the basics, but I had my 503 there, and a full pull down, decoke and rebuild was done, complete with miking the bores and pistons, new rings and cylinder deglazing, resetting the preload on the B-box damper, and rebuilding and setting up the Carbs.

I think that Niren has to cope with a wide range of skills, experience and abilities. For some of our course members the thought of changing plugs was daunting, while others had already done rebuilding. I am sure that Niren is willing to be flexible depending on the needs/experience of the group, and the availability of an engine to rebuild. I took the opportunity to get the work done under the direction of the experts, while learning more about the engine. There will likely be someone in the group in the same position.

In past he was not allowed (by rotax I am told) to give course on heavy maint (Rotax definition of heavy maint) or overhaul. That will change from 1 June or July.

If my inderstanding of the regs is correct, all work performed on a NTCA has to be signed off by an AP.

This being the case, is there any benefit in doing one of these courses other than for interest?

Do the work yourself and have it signed off by an AP or if you are all thumbs have the AP do it.

Current reg's are . Not even AP's know what going on.

Line maintenance is what was proposed by Aeroclub recently to CAA. (Change oil, plugs etc). 100hr still needs to be signed by AP...
