EAA Talk Show – Wednesday 13 February 2008
We are back in the groove with our monthly Talk Shows, and this month we have two guests that we have been battling to ‘nail down’ for some time.
Prof. Johan Coetzee is the founder of Henley Air, one of the largest operators of helicopters in South Africa. He is a great philanthropist and generous supporter of massive charity projects involving the aviation community. Johan has studied ‘pilot psychology’ in depth and is in the process of designing and integrating psychiatric health standards as a requirement for professional pilots’ licences. Johan is a wonderful orator and anybody remotely interested in aviation will find his views riveting.
Bruce Rowan who has a B. Com. Degree, majoring in Economics, Business Economics, and Industrial Psychology, is a Senior Training Captain with SAA. Bruce was for many years responsible for the highly intellectual Crew Resource Management (CRM) section of SAA Flight Operations acting as tutor at SAA since the inception of CRM training in 1987. Although no longer an active tutor at SAA, Bruce continues to lecture on the subject outside of SAA. Bruce is a humorous public speaker, and a top class authority in CRM and its effect on airline accident prevention.
Both these men are regarded as boffins in their spheres, and have serious and humorous aviation tales to relate as well.
Scully Levin has graciously agreed to host the show on this evening, as Karl Jensen is still recuperating from a major operation to his shoulder.
Date: 13th of February 2008 WEDNESDAY (Not Thursday)
Time: 18h30 for 19h30 (time to order your boerewors/steak roll & drinks)
Venue: The EAA Auditorium at Rand airport. Adjacent to TAC (Biggles Bistro) and the holding point of runway 29
Take the entrance at Hurricane Road (NOT through the main gate)
Cost: R30 (R20 for card carrying EAA, Aero Club & SAAMS members)
Booking: Send an e-mail or simply phone me at the office between 09h00 & 17h00.
Jeremy Woods: moose@icon.co.za. Booking is essential!
