Last evening as viewed from KROON, only one blue line, seems to be originating as a result of factury stack flame on horison.

Looks like a shadow caused by distant obstruction like a tower or a peak. This must have been seconds before the sun finally set

Morph, I think you are spot-on, the factory stack chugged a plume of smoke into the surrounds and that must have caused the shading effect, shortlived, as you said.

First time I saw it that brilliantly defined.

I saw two of those in madikwe a few months back. No factories or stacks around there so bang goes that theory, but i would be very interested to know what the hell they were.
