Thread on Avcom regarding the new VG wing on the Savannah.
John Waterson wrote:The first batch of 6 Savannah VG aircraft have arrived in SA. The Italian manufacturers, ICP have introduced a new wing profile. The fixed leading edge slats have been taken away and vortex generators installed on the upper forward surface of the main airfoil. The new kits have a few improvements: Window in lower front door, option for extended baggage compartment, full span trim tab and of course the improved VG wing giving an increased cruise from 75 to 90 mph at 5000 rpm with Rotax 912S (Vmo 100mph). The best rate of climb at sea level increases from 1100 ft/min to 1200 ft/min @ 56mph. The only negative is a reduction in forward C of G limit from 30% to25% MAC although this will have little effect on loading due to the forward reduction of wing chord. In general, the stalling behavior is identical to that of the standard Savannah, and, if anything, even more benign. The only differences are that the pitch attitudes are less extreme. Take off and landing distances remain the same ridiculous 35 and 50m respectively. Savannah Africa have only two VG kits left in stock. Should anyone be in wanting a Savannah VG, you will need to order soon if you don’t want to loose out.

Anyone on here driving one of these? With the increase in speed it makes this aerie more compeditive. Excellent Stol now with added top end performance...

Boet kan dit na die tyd op gesit word op die ouer BB's of kan dit net tydens die bou van die vliegtuig gedoen word?

I am looking at one of those but agree that I would have to change my avatar name to ugly something.

A look can grow on you.....look at some people's dogs for example
The price tag of owning thistype of aircraft combined with the performance characterisitics, far outweigh the eye candy factor and besides which, you spend the most of your time inside the cockpit, not outside, so put in some elaborate toys for flying pleasure.....
