Cheeky Microlight
Cheeky Microlight
A while ago I saw a concept for a microlight called the Cheeky,
nice little plane but it seems like it never got "off the ground" ,
anyone knows why?

Did the aerie really have a problem to get airborne?
I e-mailed the designer and according to him the design is proven.
Anyone know of any flying examples?
Tailspin, it looks like you have all the contacts !!
Any usefull info on this aerie?
If you had the moolah, would you invest in it ?

We did know there was a problem with the prop spec and did not go any further into the whole thing ......As i lost intrest when it could not get out ground effect........Strange to see it run up and down the runway and cant lift off.....My opinion i waont take something like that....

I got all enthusiastic about it too. It was based on Max Braendli's Cherry BX-2. The Cherry performance was good with lots of them flying in Switzerland. The guys building the local version was/is the agent for ISON aircraft and they were based at Vanderbijlpark. They also build a high wing plane called a Knot and they sell Bennie's favourite type of engine....
I am not sure about the ground effect thingy, I know where the original design came from. I would go for this aircraft if i have enough moolah but my heart is torn in two between this little baby and a Sky Fly.smallfly wrote:Quentin Ferreira wrote:I wanted to get one some time ago.....and was doing the same thing. Hi Gavin,
Could you provide a link? The only ones I could find are:
http://www.csir.co.za/plsql/ptl0002/PTL ... t_no=10093
and
http://www.flyzoneplanes.com/airplanes/ ... index.html
Are you talking about a scaled up version? The pic would not open. Description sounds great - I would like to know more.
Regards,
Henni

I was searching for an aircraft to build the first time and i found a local guy building a Knot and a cherry, subsiquently he has gone from the airwaves and all the promisses etc. The SkyFly is a scratch build from plans and there are no Kits available that i know of but i cold be wrong.
to see the cherry have a look at this site : http://www.spang-air.de/willkommen/Cher ... y-bx2.html

Scratch build means you manufacture everything That is what i like.smallfly wrote:I checked out the cherry and I LIKE !!!!!!!!!!!!
1 meter wide cockpit and cruising at 155mph, only sniffing at the feul!!
I can understand why you considdered it, it looks like it is a spruce aery,
so for scratch build it's pay as you go.

Tailspin, you say you can get plans for the cheeky, does that mean it can be scratchbuilt?
It looks like a composite aerie in the pictures, although it is computor simulated.
How much would a set of plans set you back, and does it come with al the legal requirements like authentic numbers?
In your oppinion, is it a difficult project for a first time builder?
