Not sure but I see that there are contact details under the microlight club section for a flight school in Kwelega which is just East of EL. They may know.

Where do you fly from Redroman?

Hi Agent
I know a Sedley Gouwer from East London as I grew up and went to school there. Crazy guy. Married a girl from my class, Amanda Romans.
A few other folks from the Western side of East London are the Samson's, Beckerman's, Grieb's, Zitske's, Staude's all of them living mainly outside of East London towards Kidds Beach.

Hi Redromon

I am a regular in that part of the country. As far as I know, there are no strips near Kidds beach.

I must commend the boytjies in Aliwal. The first time I ever heard about Broubart Security was when I did a precautionary at Aliwal & the local Ford dealer arranged for one of his staff to collect me from the field , take me to Broubart, collect a guard, take me to that mooi lodge next to the bridge, leave us there to kuier & sleep overnight & collected us the next morning after the cb had dissapeared to the airfield.

My young son still refers to Aliwal as "the north pole"

Every time we fly abeam the north pole I smile. I will never forget the hospitality received there from people I never knew except to skake hands with & say thanks for what they had done for me.

The Microlight Club in Aliwal is full of surprises. I popped in only to find that Johan Botha Pictured with his Windlass Aquilla is the only microlighter in Aliwal North. The local club also has 3 PPL pilots. What is the current situation?

My experience was back in about 2003. The field was in fairly good shape but did not look very used. There were 2 hangars, both locked. Quite a few mates of mine from East London stopped there en route to Ficksburg for a vintage fly in recently (2005). I can ask them.

THATCHMAN,QUITE A DISTANCE TO FLY A TRIKE.YOU ARE WELCOME TO PASS BY,THINK YOU WILL NEED TOM SLEEP OVER.JUST LET US KNOW IN ADVANCE AND WE WILL MAKE A LEKKER BRAAI.

RV SOMETIME,THE NORTH POLO IS NOT THAT BAD,JUST IN THE WINTER AT TIMES IT CAN GET A BIT COLD.BUT ON THE OTHER HAND WE HAVE PLACES LIKE THE LODGE THAT KEEPS YOU WARM???

ALANMACK,I WILL SHOW JOHAN THAT FOTO.HE IS VERY ACTIVE WITH HIS TRIKE AND HE IS THE ONE THAT INSPIRED ME TO START FLYING.BESIDES HIM OUR CLUB HAS 5 PPL PILOTS AND CURENTLY THERE IS ABOUT 6 HANGERS.THE AIRSTRIPPS IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND THE OTHER DAY ROLLER WAS SPONSORED TO ROLL THE STRIPPS.WE WANT TO GET MORE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THIS TIPE OF SPORT AND THINK ALIWAL HAS THE POTENSIOL TO DO THIS.

THANKS FOR YOUR INTERIST GUYS AND PLEASE LET US KNOW IF ANY OF YOU PASSES,WOULD LIKE TO MEET YOU GUYS.

Congratulations on the growth of your club. 2 hangers to 6 in 2 years means that we will soon all have to move to Aliwal to keep your numbers climbing - it must be the hot springs that keep you growing all year round!

A few of us came through Aliwal a couple of weeks ago on the way back from the Annual Wildcoast fly-away. You should consider joining us on the Wild Coast next year.
