Purchased this KR1 - ZS-UHO back in 1999 and have been rebuilding it on and off over the last 8 years. Used to belong to a Mr Hally Warmington (spl). Test pilot flew it for 20 hours and then owner had mishap on landing and broke the undercarriage. After repairs were made it went into storage and apparently never flew again. Somewhere in the passage of time the wings got lost and it changed hands a few times, I found it in a sorry state and purchased it for the engine and other spares. However, on closer inspection I found the framework was in good condition so I decided to rebuild her. Soon she will grace SA skies again.

Henni,
What happened to this KR1 - ZS-UTF? Looks like a nice plane. Used to be so many KR's around at one stage in SA. Wonder where there all gone? :(

Hi FlyKR,

She had a 1600cc VW engine which was way underpowered for our altitude.

Sold her to a chap from Zimbabwe - never seen or heard from her since.

I am itching for something similar to a KRII again. I started this project a while ago which is my own design based on the KRII but using a two stroke engine.

Just after our move to our newly aquired home I might just start building again.

Regards,

Henni
