Nice flying - Robertson

Postby Bacchus » Sat Apr 21, 2007 5:25 pm

Early morning got away in a very misty and cloudy Wintervogel.
Hopped over to Fisantekraal to let ZU-CHH join us. Me, John and CHH left for the Franchoek valley and HOPED there might be a hole in the clouds for us to get through. Heard some of the Morningstar guys in the air ( they promised to get to Robertson!) but that was the last of them! Must say, it did not seem that there will be a way over these mountains.
However, we got a gap ( layer of about 200 feet of mist) , popped through, and above was these clear skies and so smooth! Went through the gap over the mountains by Franschoek to Theewaterskloof dam (no more mist at all) down the valley over Villiersdorp and then along the mountain range to Robertson. Had such a good tail wind we landed about two minutes after the gyros!
Had a good brekkie there. Filled up and spent about two hours there.
Great people and a good fly in with 4 trikes in total. The rest was all blik aeries and two gyros.

GR8 - DAD, it was good to have a chat with you and your mate, Gert, all the way from Citrusdal.

After that straight to Worcestor, (we wanted to go to Tulbach and go over the mountains by Voelvlei dam), but at that stage everything was so silky smooth ( 8000 feet ) we just stormed the mountains head on. Waited and waited for the bumps...which never came , and descended on the Paarl side round about 1 pm.

There we had to face the music for the last 30 minutes in very turbulant conditions as we went lower and lower. After tricky landing at wintervogel, we were so tired we battled to to keep the beers upright!
Lam ARMS!

En wat doen ek? Vergeet die kamera by die huis!

Likewise Bacchus,

26 Aeries for Bfast, not too bad. 4 trikes, 2 gyros en plenty of blik. Must say the Albatros flown by Space looked and sounded awsome, glad I don't have too feed it some juice...

Julle ounes was redelik joviaal oppad terug, het lekker gelag, trikes op amper 8000 voet oor die Hottentot Holland berge.....wou vra of julle suurstof nodig gehad het. Weer en wind was gr8!

Sien weer.

I was flying a Aerotrike Cobra 582. Saw some space shuttles coming by in orbit, GR8-DAD!
