Data sharing about 800 SA airfields and strips.

:D The tool exists, mainly thanks to microlighters from this forum, with over 800 SA airfields.

http://nav3000.free.fr

It is worthless without you. The aim is to share information with other pilots : you profit from the information they gave whereas you give them info about an airfield you know well. Using euroVFR is free. This site has been used for several years in France where it is quite successful.

It will be useful if you make it useful. All you need is 5 minutes. Two ways to achieve this:

- Many airfields or airstrips still have temporary names in the database. You can see a list of these temporary named airfields here ( http://nav3000.free.fr/moteur/SA_unknown.php ) and mail me the real names of some of them if you know them.
- Feed data into an airfield card (yours, for exemple). To do this, you simply search the airfield, display its card and then use the 'update' button at the bottom of the card. A form will then enable you to add or update data. (Data include runways, frequencies, but also gas availability, taxes, whether or not there is a restaurant, a workshop, accomodation.... on the airfield or in the vicinity.) Since many airfields still have temporary names, maybe you could see the list above to try and find the temporary name of your airfield. This unconveniency will disappear as soon as the real names have been given.

Feeding data, especially now, involves devoted people because there is not much airfield information to get from the site as a reward. Many thanks to these people. Will you be one of them?

Very informative site.... I'll update the airfields around FAPT as there are some that are unusable!

I think all parties can update their airfields. I like the Google.earth touch checking out the maps....

Hello,
Back from a few days off.

Thanks for your comments and your data. Dark helmet has sent many real names of airfields and I'm changing them. Allow a few days...

There are several things which don't work properly for SA... yet !
I'm going to fix them :
- airfields too close on the interactive map. i'll have to find an other, more detailled picture as a background to show them.
- no NOTAM. The french server doesn't give them. I'm looking for a web server giving SA NOTAM

Thanks to George and Brent (may I give your real names), many real names were given to previously ill-named airstrips in the database. Several pilots have also added info about their own airfield. As far as SA is concerned, the site is only starting. But it seems that there are, among you, devoted people willing to share info.

Good news. :D

 I've discovered that in SA, magnetic declination is not to be forgotten. Therefore, I've added this information on all airfields cards. It is void for most of them but you'll be able to enter the correct value when you update your airfield card.

:!:
You can now add your comments and pinion about each airfield : friendliness, tricky approach, new knock out waitress....
Simply use the button at the bottom of the airfield card.
