This is sad to hear.
I lived very close to Dragon Peaks for 5 years, used to see the Tungay family quite often. Russel was always friendly.

Condolences to the family.

Very sad :( He sat me down in the pub once and taught me more about mountain flying than any of my instructors :( :( :( :(

VERY sad... :( He will be remembered by many.. Sincere condolences to all.

I always enjoyed the 'mandatory' briefings on our annual flyaway which included 'requirements' of the local 'greenies'..

Here he is last May giving our Crosswind's member Wollie a ride back from the airfield.

Hi all, as you might know, I am based at DP now, flying is going well.
Russel's funeral will be at 10.00 am on sunday at the Drakensberg Choir School. The SAF arrive tomorrow for their mountain course, and all SAF members will be at the funeral, as Russ was a honourary colonel for 87th Squadron. RIP Russ, may Sterkhorn watch over you.
