I want to start shooting some video while up there and share the stunning view with friends. I got the video camera but not the mount.

Ram is great, don't think their U-bolt will fit around the flying-bar though which is where I want to mount it (Then attached to wing and hopefully less movement)

Can anyone help here, phone numbers, model numbers.

Cheers

Have a look on Damien's site as to how he set up his camera system.

If you are using a normal sized video camera then the mount might not be robust enough.....

At least it will give you idea of where to start.

Hi guys, I was also looking for a system that can easily be swopped between a Bushbaby and a trike. Also looking for more info as to type of camera's and where to buy(harware setup and approx cost of average system). I am a weekend warrior. Sorry Big D for highjacking your post  .

Bicycle seat clamp around the control bar, replace bolt with a new machined one that fits into a standard tripod head. Easy On, Easy Of, and you can use any cheap tripod head.

Not my idea, got it from a friend at Springs, and this is how I shot all my micro videos.. http://www.rudigreyling.com/rudi_movies.html

Thanks for responses guys

Rudi - Your video's inspired me to start shooting my own video and is the very reason I spent alot of money on a Canon DVR - my wife don't like you :D

Will have bicycle mount adjusted to fit - Thanks

I am in the process of setting up an inflight camera system. I have everything just need to install. Firstly if you want to go the remote camera on teh wing tip route you need a camera with a AV (analog video) in port. Most cam corders don't have this.

I won't go into the whole, miniDV/ DVD/ Hard drive debate.

The actual remote cameras (helmet cam/ cigarette cam) are expensive at around 2 grand. but any security shop will have cheaper cameras that are the same as the expensive sports cameras just without flash names and stickers. (Security shops will even offer to hide it in a teddy bear if you want;). They cost about 600bucks and work well with the option of different lenses.

Will kep you posted on the installation process.

Was that the bicycle clamp or did you buy an off the shelf mount?

Not to rub it in but I think we paid R25 for the clamp, and R100 for someone to TURN the bolt head to fit into a nomral tripod head. If you know someone with a lath you can do it yourself.

Agreed

Guys I think Rudi's method is better and probably lighter too.

I chose the Manfrotto because it can be clamped anywhere on the trike - Trapeze bar, front profile, pylon - Pretty much anwhere which can make for interesting angles

Also make sure that cam has a mic input - Pretty cool recording all the okes on radio (need buzcom for this)

Nkwasi my man

Don't worry about the mounts and trimers - Worry about the snacks I carry along
I get hungry on cross countries
And when I come to Petit I bet you will feel like a twinkie too!!
