Hangar devastated by fire

I am in shock !

I have just heard that one of the hangars at Cato Airfield has burnt down with 5 planes inside. Well I guess it is not so much that the hangar could "burn down", it is made from blocks and sheeting, but the planes are all gone!

Although from a reliable source at the scene, I do not want to post the names of those affected until I have personally cleared it with them, needless to say that this is a huge blow.

This is very disturbing news. Many microlighters don't insure their aircraft as they are typically bought for cash and insurance is expensive. I would be devastated if it was my plane.

What can I say

  What shocking news, it's too much for the brain to process all immediate responses and possible implications, from the questions of "what!", "how and why?" to "what if?" to "what about..."
and simply "what now!" :x  It's a terrible blow for anyone to lose an a/c, let alone having so many planes going up in smoke all at once - please keep us posted as more information comes to light

I have just come from the airfield and can confirm that no-one was injured in this fire, in fact no-one was anywhere near the hangar.

It is one of the saddest sights I have ever seen.

I am still not able to make public any further information until I have spoken to all parties concerned as this has far-reaching effects. As soon as I have their permission I will update you all.

Please keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks.
