Microlighters

After recently completing my mpl, my dad and I want to take part in a fly-away to Barberton.

What sort of emergency equipment should I take along and what other usefull items should I include?

Have you got hints or other useful information regarding fly-aways that are significant and could make the experience more enjoyable or worthwile?

I did my MPL with Brian Young in Barberton. Beautiful flying are.
Just watch the weather. It took me 6 weeks to get my plane back, there was always low cloud over the ridge and we could not cross.

The nice thing with the Barberton valley is that it's very protected. If the weather is bad all around, the valley is clear.

Uni baby you also need a huge pair of brass balls when you cross over the ridge and start decending into the valley.
Then you should stop at Carolina just for a break and some coffee with Fred I have his number and weather weather and again just look out for the weather now is not the right time. We are going later next year to the CC doo.
Winter months are the best.

One of the best preparations you can make is to prepare yourself for alternative arrangements if EVERYTHING is not perfect to do the trip. When planning a fun fly-away, the biggest problem that crops up is that you have to be somewhere at a specific time, and this can often lead to you flying in less than ideal conditions. Oh and also plan a few days extra leave at the end in case everything is not perfect for the return trip.

And if everything goes according to plan and the weather co-operates, then do't forget the camera!!
