Disgusting to say the least. Can buy a Skyranger 3 axis with a 582 rattex engine new and flying for that price and imported as well. the local market has gone crazy. Anyway the big shift is back to 3 axis as we are experiencing at our school and building aircraft. The two local East London builders and importers of fixed wing a/c will attest to this fact. Myself being one of these builders.

Hi Captain Biggles

Yes this sounds nice so do you have any photos of this aircraft you are building so we can have a look and do the kit incl. a 582 with instruments or not? What must we buy more to get it in the air?

This is by far the nicest example I have seen... Costs about R130k without the motor. Lovely all round aircraft. There is a reason why it has won so many championships... !!!!

All that is required is a 582 Rotax motor, a suitable prop and instruments & radio of your choice.

Budgety figures:

582 motor, gearbox, starter, radiators, etc..complete = R65k incl VAT
Prop = R5k incl VAT

Basic instruments (VSI, Altimeter, airspeed indicator, Compass & Temp guages)= R5k incl VAT

Radio, intercom & headset = R5.5k incl VAT

Assemble the kit yourself (120 hours- like a mechano set, most parts already pre-assembled)

TOTAL ESTIMATE

Kit - R130k
Motor - R65k
Prop - R5k
Guages - R5k
Radio, etc - R5.5k

TOTAL = R215k flyingb (incl VAT)

The above is based on the VMAX kit and there is a VFUN kit which is R10k cheaper.

Ok, lets do this. You all sell me your 582 tryks at aboute 40k, coz the market is over stocked at the moment and you have to pay someyone to take youre trykes off your hands. Then every one can upgrade to a new sky ranger for 130k and I can pick half of them up for a bargin next year this time and fit all the 582's in the Sky Rangers and sell the trykes as spares.

Here's the link to the local agent, but I think the 130K cost is a little higher now since the Euro is a little stronger:

Looks like a nice little project for some-one that want to try their hand at building, but paying R18,000K to assemble for you is not bad either that is about R90 to R180 per hour. Good deal.

Come on Sharkman. Don't just stir the pot and run away. What experience or info do you have on/with the plane??

ZU-EINa must have been one of the last Aquilla's built before Solowings had this massive price increase. Doubt if I would have bought it for the new price. The new prices just might cause the 2nd hand market to get more lively.
