Real time flight tracking (GSM and the Internet)

Postby cobra » Mon Dec 04, 2006 7:25 pm

We all have promised to phone when landed at a particular time - get a 15 kts head wind the family is worried sick

GMS Tracker - Very innovative software from aspicore in Finland

Install the software to a smartphone (eg Nokia N series) connect to a Bluetooth GPS and via GPRS or 3G to the internet and you set 8)

The time intervals can be set for downloading position, speed, course and alt to a central database. Various link commands are available to load the position from the database real time. The database stores the last 100 positions, the latest position or last 20 positions as a track can be viewed via Google Earth or MapQuest

Used it on the week  - my wife always has the question - where did you fly to  or by the time she's up on a Saterday I'm long gone - with the software she can track my position real-time on the internet with Google Earth. I set the software to save a gps position every 5 min and when the course was changed with more than 30 deg.

Also a great SAR tool  The service is free 8)

Give it a try, recommended.
