VOTE NOW FOR MICROLIGHT PICTURE IN AVCOM CALENDAR!

Postby gertcoetzee » Wed Nov 01, 2006 1:48 pm

Avcom is having a poll to decide which pictures will be in the 2007 calendar. A fellow microlighter has submitted this picture. In the final vote he is running behind

Please go to

To be honest, I don't really like the pic.

Microlighters generally pride themselves on having the brightest aeries and clothes and for me, this picture does not capture the free spirit of aviation. I can just imagine a whole lot of disgruntled pilots who crawled out of bed before sunrise, drove out to the airfield in the dark and then couldn't go anywhere because of the mist and weather!!

Sorry to be so negative, but it is only my opinion. There must be some better pics out there....

I also don't really think that one should be "cavassing" for votes - let the best pics win!

I think the pic is great, and have voted. Takes a eye to see and compose a pic like that. Well done.

But I thought we are a miserable lot, who have to get up early to snatch an hour of wonder. The irony!

Hey, this is Efrica, not Europe/USA. Nothing wrong with an irregular poll.

Me stirring. Thanks for all those who voted.

Seriously, I just wanted to make microlighters aware that one of us have entered a GREAT picture which I believe should be included in a calendar depicting general aviation. If you don't like it, don't vote. Some great pictures, especially the no 1. Picture

actually its a good picture. Composition is balanced and to me this captures when most us are at airfields, chilly morning, a whole bunch of pilots standing around glancing at the sky and windshock with mugs of coffee in thier hands.

And to us capies a windsock hanging like that is a godsend

Thanks for all the support!

The picture was taken at the Battlefield 2006 Flyin at about 07h30 in the morning. The mist, although it looks quite thick, was patchy and people were flying in (in fact I had just landed with a pilot from Cato in a RV6). I was snapping a few when this mist "cloud" rolled in and voila, the result.

What, for me, was amazing was the result as it was on a Sony Cybershot 5.1 (point and shoot). I think it is quite good (otherwise I would never had entered it).
