I hear rumours CAA are looking to make 300 hours ground instruction stick --- anyone got some insight into this
I can just see the outcome of this one if it means money will have to part hands to fork out for 300 hours plus and im guessing 40 flight hours to get ones SP/LSA in future

To clarify
I assume that CAA will be insisting that 300 hours of ground schooling in the form of lessons, controlled study time, pre & post flight briefings, writing exams, quiz's, etc can be proven by a register of some kind and that for the new Sport Pilot/ Light Sport Aircraft categorty that it will revert to PPL level hours and instructiuon standrds which will be no less than 40 hours
340hours x R600.00 = R204,000

There are indeed many ways to kill sport and leisure aviation.
Again a wake up call for everybody to join MISASA so that those daft regulations can be challanged, and be fought effectively if need be.

Arnulf

Hey Junkster
That cant be true. 300hrs groundschool - if it includes travel time to the airfield I'll accept it. We might as well just do the ppl thing. Anyway, its a good deal with Rikkus at FAFK Aerosport. Im starting my PPl after renewing my medical in March.
CAA has sunk to new depths. How bout you apply for post as new director of CAA. Then we'll have an inside man.
See you tomorrow at FAFK.

Not a rumour guys.
CAA have the daft idea that they need to implement ICAO rules for PPL training schools into Microlight Training schools.
All because both types of school have the same designaion - Part 141 ATO.
I was exposed to these requirements at my last ad-hoc inspection.
Basically told our inspector what we thought of this...............
Will see where it goes. Am tired of fighting for the cause.............
Some-one else can tackle this one.
