time for a little update on MGL's Enigma EFIS as I have come across some rumours that had me raise my eyebrows (just a little).
Our launch at Osh was a huge success, and yes it is true that Cessna is very interested in fitting Enigma to the new VLA. So is about every other NTCA aircraft manufacturer in every corner of the World. Since then the story has been repeated at several other airshows leaving our distributors quite breathless.
Enigma works VERY VERY nicely and several aircraft are now flying with it (yes, this means we have shipped the first batch !). Our second batch is in manufacture but is a little delayed due to one of our suppliers loosing a shipment of very rare computer chips (highly annoying).
Yes, our complete production is sold out for the next six months and we are trying to find ways to increase production. This is a high tech piece of equipment at the highest possible level (don't let the low price fool you - that is because we are not greedy) that is actualy made fully here in SA (except for the silicon) so you can imagine that it is not easy to increase production due to lack of suitable resouces and manpower. We are now looking to assemble in the U.S. and Europe to add to our own manufacturing here in SA.
Enigma is still in beta release stage. This means that alltough very functional, some functions are not yet included. This is done stage by stage. For example the next (free) update is Monday which includes the terrain awareness system (the thing that tells you "Terrain !! pullup !!) and terrain related functions (moving map terrain highlights etc). Not much is left before we will remove the beta status.
Here is a picture of a very nice, brand new RV-7 that just won a prize at South America's largest airshow. Yes, this is an Enigma (proudly South African)...
Cheers
