FAPM for breakfast!

6:30 this morning a gaggle of 6 trikes headed off in the most perfect conditions. Routing over Table Mountain (the one and only in KZN!) then past Albert Falls Dam, over the town of Howick and then around Midmar Dam landing at Howick for a coffee break.

Then taking off and heading towards FAPM we were told by ATC to climb to 5000 and report over the Duzi River. Then came the best surprise, ATC gave us all priority for finals on 16. In the most orderly manner, as trike pilots are known for, we decended and took the opportunity to route straight in on Finals. What a great sight as by this stage there were 7 trikes decending like WWI fighters on FAPM.

Parked as directed and then enjoyed a quick (to eat, not to order!) bite and coffee.

On start-up I saw a gap and requested taxi and take-off instructions. ATC gave me "direct to 16, and immediate take-off". What a thrill!

It was a bit trashy (especially for my first time pax) on the way back as the thermals had started to pop. Eventually landing back at Cato at 10:10am.

What a great flight and thanks to all who joined in and especially Noel for organsing this. You will see more of this happening as we also join the La Mercy gaggle on their outings when possible.

Confession time

Not being an Instructor I know that I am not allowed to partake in microlighting activities for gain. Well this pax that I took on Saturday presented me with a huge slab of biltong this morning as a token of his thanks. Does this constitute a "payment"? If so, then rest assured I will have it destroyed (I will personally see tho this); if not, should I advise him that one slab isn't enough?

We won't say nadda if you send us ALL a Big stick of biltong.

It is imperitive that you destroy this potential evidence by method of consumption and then have a shower to rid yourself of any potential wrongdoing.

Then you approach the pax, and admonish him under no uncertain terms that this behaviour can be seen as a payment and the next time he should include a 6-pack of ice-cold frosties to ease the process of consuming the evidence. 8)

Awesome !!
