over 50

Postby Aerosan » Fri Sep 29, 2006 6:41 am

I’m just wondering how many guys in here are over 50 :?: To me it seems that everyone has left the country or have gone to bed. Old toppies like Agent, Demon, DH ,BIG-G ahhhh yes Rubber Duck even you (now that you are almost 50  ) dont post as much as you used to. Now how is a young lad like me supposed to gain hanger experience???????

The "toppies" are most probably at the airfield flying whilst us "youngsters" are either getting ready for work or, like me, at work already!

This toppie just crawled out of bed after pulling a late nite getting a server ready that has to ship to Nigeria today.

This one is ready for the trip. Another leaving tomorrow! So no DH in the air this weekend!

PS: This toppie is now 32 ;) 18yrs to go for the big FIVE OH

(Blegh - wish it was the other way around! Would start flying lessons immediately!)

Aerosan,

You're only as old as the woman you feel. 8)

I wouldn't be so brash as to just assume toppie status on some of the folks here. However I hear you in terms of the previous regulars who are now silent. But hop across to Avcom and there they are

Hey we will respect all the toppies just keep on passing the knowledge down to us :!:

Funny being part of the youngest at an age of 32 but great to know we can carry on late into life

For those that have more experience just remember for us that are still a bit on the green side that we still need help - even this flying into Rand is a big thing for me - talking to ATC's and stuff  But gotta take the bull by the horns and do it, enjoy, and fly safe I guess

I am very surprised that people on this forum do not understand the concept of real pilot age. When assessing pilots, just as with planes, it is not the age in years but the number of hours, condition of the airframe and motor that determines value. Poor maintenance regimes, coupled with the use of inappropriate lubricants, results in even more degradation. Morph, although relatively young, is actually pretty close to TBO. Demon should have been scrapped years ago.

Incorrect lubricant application for sure  not the type of lubricant but the overfill   causes high sump compression, rings blow-by and potential bearing failure   :P 8)
