I have insurance with a certain company...

My problem is that they have passed my information on to some guy at ABSA bank who keeps harassing me to take out life cover with him. As many times as I keep telling him I am not interested, he seems more and more persistant, even after I have told him to get lost!

He has all my contact details, my id number and even where I fly from. Is there some sort of law that this company is breaking? Surely they cant just hand out my details?

Had similar situation. only way i could get rid of him was to agree to meetings and then not pitch.. After the 3rd no show he got the idea... No nice to do, but it exceptionally frustrating being hounded like that...

PS
I would send email to the insurance co. demanding they call the guy and tell him to stop. Threaten to go public that they have divulged confidential information. make it their problem...

Is an aviation insurance broker actually  . He doesnt work for them he works for a bank.

You gotta ask yourself when they start to join with the banks maybe they are getting desperate. The guy said the broker had an alliance with this bank or something. :x

Last conversation I threatened him with everything but legal and seems he may have backed off  Next time he calls he better make sure his life insurance is in order...

Next time he phones and asks how you doing start with huge long stories about al your problems and don't stop. Then ask him some really personal questions :?

nearly as bad as the "congratulations you have won a prize" phone calls. I normally stop them in their tracs and confirm that the prize is definatly mine. As soon as he/she says "eish yes sir you have won a prize" I say "OK fine if it is my property then mail it to me!!" puff you should see them back track then

Planet Fitness did that to me. But worse... They phone the landline, then the cell then the other half cell!

Repeatedly for weeks!

I got so rude that I could not stop swearing and I just kept going on and on and on. I demanded to speak to the call centre manager and continued swearing at him for a while. They stopped calling!

I think a law or some rule is being passed called "whitelisting" or something. When your name is on this list you are not to be called by telemarketers - you would have some recourse if your name was on the list.

My worst was Progressive Systems Management who were so persistent in trying to sell me a stock market computer training course (which did sound interesting) that I eventually (in my stupidity) signed a document and wrote "subject to confirmation on x date". Can't believe that I even gave them my credit card details  Needless to say they immediately processed the amount which Nedbank refused to reverse or cancel. So I had to cough up a lot of dough and never even received the training material. Live and learn - now I am very suspicious of any pushy salesmen/brokers/insurance-mongers etc.

Months later the same company phoned (database provided by the bank, I am sure) to sell me the same product. Blew my lid!!!

I used to live in the USA where telemarketing is a big thing. I used to hang up right away but decided to have some fun instead. Let them go through the whole sales pitch for 5 mins and then ask in a heavy accent if they could repeat coz you did not quite get it all. Half way through the second time ask them to just hold the line coz you got something on the braai and you just want to turn it over before you go for a pee. Come back and ask them what it was they called about again. You can have lots of fun untill they get fed up with you. Another good one is to say in a husky voice that they sound real hot and ask what they are wearing and make sure to tell them that you are naked (works real well if it is a guy that is calling).
