Okay - I took the plunge and started my own blog. Find it at http://www.have2fly.co.za.

These forums are great but finding info and having a web frontend for our sport is, in my opinion, important.

My idea is to have have2fly as a repository for important info and to make it easy to find. From articles to stories to accident notifications. Forums are just not key as a repository of info, forums are for discussion and we can link and categorise articles on a blog a lot better than we can in a forum.

Your thoughts are appreciated! And off course, your participation is even more appreciated.

PS: In no way am I trying to take attention away from the forum - I am providing this as a value add to our community!

Hi DH (my post from Avcom for the in guys here)

At what segment of the public are you aiming the website at – If it is Joe self loading Cargo then lots of pictures with short teaser articles should get them to contact a club for a flip. (in this case I would keep the accidents portion out)

As for the Notam’s remember the focus is different from pilot to pilot. A notice stating that we are no longer allowed to perform touch and go’s on Blue Whales anymore would have no relevance to the guys up in the Big Smoke.

If the leaning is more towards pilots then maybe have a look at http://www.auf.asn.au/Either way I think that there is a lot of work ahead – Keep at it and it will work.
