Mist over the upper Rhein Valley

Postby okflyer » Thu Dec 29, 2016 9:34 pm

After weeks of grey days and IMC the weather finally got a little better and I took the chance to do a little bit of circuit training with one of my friends Cessna 177 RG. But before doing the merry-go-round I heard on the radio from other pilots that the mist over the Rhein Valley looks spectacular. Therefore a short diversion was flown and the iPhone got handy to catch a few pictures.
Enjoy:

Wrong: Left and right of the banks of the river are fields. I always keep the bird over the rim line. The Cessna 177 cardinal has a glide path of more than 1 to 13.
By converting the cruise speed of 140 mph in hight (down to 75) you can gain a few feets as well.
In the worst case, with the gear up (177RG) the water landing will be much safer than with a non RG ( BTW, I have got a seaplane rating too (!!) )
When I fly the 2 Seaters (i.e. WT9 Dynamic), they also have got ballistic parachutes.
