Microlighters

It doesn't look like there are many, ready, off-the shelf knee/map boards to be used in a trike. My search turned up these:

I'm quite unhappy with the map pockets flight suits offer, plus some do not have map pockets at all. What are you guys using? Any decent, 'lekker' local alternatives? (See, my Afrikaans is improving! :D

Sorry, no idea about map pockets, have decided to install GPS bracket instead.
Jokes aside, I did see one the other day, guy using it in a heli - will have a look and ask.

I use knee board from Aeros. Works great.

Me, I have no more free memory to remember radio freq, so am planning on writing them with a pemanent marker on the pylon. Coz it's mine.

Yeah, this is what worries with with the sportflyingshop's one. It's looking really nice, but it's velcroed to the leg strap to allow rotating it. The velcro might be strong enough now, but as it collects particles is loses strength and then vroosh, the prop converts the map into beef Stroganoff ...

Aeros lists Jenya at Petit as South African distributor. Did you get yours from him?

I use the sportflyingshop's map board. Size wise it is about 25x25 cms - more than enough space if you ask me. The straps are NOT velcro - it uses those plastic camping type clips which you can then tighten around your leg. Its got two pads under neath which make it very comfortable to wear. Its a robust, well made product and although I initially thought it was on the pricey side (before I actually received it) I was pleasantly suprised when it arrived. I would recommend it to anyone.

P.S. apologies for not having a more shapely leg available to model it for you!

For my cross countries I scanned the map area I needed, rescaled them, printed them out and laminated them - you an do it to a size that works and you can tuck it away somewhere and look at it as you need it without being all bulky.

Now GPS cuts all of this out, just keep the map in my wing comartment in case of emergency

Thanks Cloud Warrior - this is exactly the info I was after! (I thought the swivelling was achieved with a large piece of velcro, hence the concern.)

Notice the Aeros logo on both of them in the bottom right corner? (Middle one on the bottom pic.) There are some differences that can be spotted, but it looks like they're coming from the same place!

Yes, mine also has the very nice pads and can rotate. I bought mine from Aviation Engines 4 years ago. I think the two are exact same thing. The one from the sportflyshop is just potographed with the imap insertion flap folded back.

Cool, thanks everyone. I contacted Jenya from Aeros SA. He's out of stock at the moment, but is leaving for the Ukraine in the next few days and will bring some back with him. He's expected to be back by mid-September. I'm definitely getting one. I seems to be a good time to get in touch with him if anyone else wants one too, I guess.
