Lucky escape for hang glider pilot after mid-air breakup at world champs . . . having an emergency parachute and being over water!

Lesson for us?

Ummm...don't do that?

In any Aerobatics in any aircraft...the boundaries are being pushed by highly experienced pilots?
Inevitably on occasion they will exceed them... and if they lucky, like this guy, they will survive?

Amazing he could release his chute under that severe rotation...hitting water from 1000ft up is pretty much the same as concrete I recon.

Looks like the trapeze bar or flying cable snapped?

Lucky guy indeed.

He was using non standard, racing flying wires and it couldn't handle the g-force.
