Hi
I am not sure exactly what type of tracker you are after , but I sell a unit that is used on motorcycles and cars .
It will work on your Trike as well .
The unit is pre-paid , so no subscription and you can track from your phone , pc or tablet.
If you want anyone up to 4 people can track and see your progress
see www.atsgps.co.za
or pm me :)

Price of unit? And how much data would a typical car type installation use per month?

Hi Nattyfish. Does the tracker need cell signal to work? So would it work out in the bush and across borders?

If it's GSM then it's useless, however the link says gps!

Needs to be GPS based for constant coverage. Found this http://africa.findmespot.com/en/ (called spot). Local agent Tiltech, Jan Hanekom.

All have a GPS element to them (to be able to identify location) - but some also require GSM to be able to communicate their position to internet/email/sms etc.... This restricts the usability of these units in locations of bad/non-existent cell coverage and cross border.

If you are looking for worldwide coverage you should look for a system that communicates via the iridium satellite system (such as the Delorme unit: http://www.traxdigital.co.za) The Delorme unit also allows 2 way text communication from anywhere in the world.

The systems that use GSM are great for city use and usually have far lower monthly costs but for aviation use might not be all that practical.

Hi Mike
Yes the unit is GSM based using both the cellular network and also the satellites to pinpoint your position.
the gsm network is as you said to allow and receive sms messages of your position and also to monitor your routes.(As you Mentioned)
Yes , the iraidium satellite tracking units are the preferred unit , but as cost is a huge factor I think this unit is a great compromise at the price.
It retails for around R1650 that's a once off , and my monthly monitoring cost is about R40,00 and that included sms warnings an out of area alerts and lots of extras that wont be necessary in or on a Trike .
The chances of being away from any sort of cellular network are getting less and less :).
What I like is that on the site provided by the tracking company I can see and replay the tracks and positions of my vehicles in real time , this unit gives me lots of flexibility to setup and monitor as I like .
Cheers

If I bought let's say 10 from you. What sort of price would you give me (feel free to PM me) and more importantly I want to be able to monitor them myself on 1 screen.
