We had a lovely late afternoon of flying booked, and were looking forward to the smooth coastal air. Moderate NE winds 5-10kt, Pressure a nice high 1026, which can only mean good weahter

We were about to climb into trikes this afternoon, when one of our local pilots gave us a call to tell us about a bit of a wind coming from the South.
I promptly phoned met to ask them "what's up". Colin said it was a bit unexpected, as this sort of thing should not happen with a high pressure, but there was a buster moving up the coast. Winds gusting up to 30kt from the South!
It was still an amazing event, and I took a little video of how the Buster came over, moving fast and clouds rolling and curling dangerously. The speed with which this un-expected little wind arrived was, as always, awe inspiring.

Buster as we saw it rolling towards us. The cloud over the coast is always smooth, and its a bit more broken over land.

Overhead now, I wish I could capture the force with whcih it was rolling and churning.

Past.
Clear sky before, clear sky after, with lots of wind and dust
