Earth X Ultralight Lithium batteries

Postby CraigL » Thu Mar 20, 2014 1:32 pm

Anybody interested in fitting a much lighter battery onto their trike/LSA, please have a look at this product, http://www.earthxmotorsport.com. These are Lithium Phosphate batteries that weigh 80% less than standard lead acid batteries. I am putting an order together to bring some out from the US, direct from the manufacturer, as I need some for my new trike. Will probably fit two x 12AH batteries, to give me redundancy, but if you are running an engine with magnetos, this may not be required, and you could fit an 18AH or 24AH battery, depending on your engine. The 12AH battery weighs 0.6kg, and the 24AH battery weighs 1.1kg's, about 6-7kg's lighter than the traditional batteries.

A bit more expensive, but claimed to last 4 times the life of a lead acid battery.

Please let me know if you're interested, as I will be placing an order early next week. Prices for the 12Ah batts start at about $160, the 18AH at $200 and the 24 AH at $250. If we can get an order of 10+ batteries, we can get a substantial discount, and the shipping should be a lot cheaper.
