Operating costs

Postby DieselFan » Fri Jun 30, 2006 2:58 pm

Given the current petrol price and it appears to soon be linked 1:1 to the Rand / $...what percentage does fuel attribute to the R85 p/h calc, including services

I know some engines use more fuel so perhaps a split eg
503 = 70%
582 = 65% etc

I worked mine out to be about R8 more per hour - fuel is only half the cost per hour

If you were to workout actual costs per hour you might not fly

On a 3 axis roughly:

Fuel R100

oil R10

Hangerage you would need to divide by number hrs flown per month say 15hrs if you doing well R33 /hr more if you fly less per month

if you have insurance same as above R1k / 15 = R66.50 again more if less hrs

Service & mainatanance still have to work this out but if you take 300hr overhaul into account and service properly every 25hrs it could be close to another R100/hr ??

Oops dont let the wife know --- we at about R300 hour?? -xX

So cut insurance & do you own maintanance you might get down to R200 an hour - this does not take into acount medicals, license fees etc :x

Some have bought their aeries through financial institutuions - another R100 - R200 per hour >;(((

One consolation - the more you fly the cheaper it is if you take fixed costs into account (hangerage, insurance etc)
