Hi all,

Some lekker news, I'm happy to announce that DYB is flying again after a brain storming and worrying session with the fuel hesitation experienced recently. Parts replaced with brand new from Rotax are as follows:-

Mechanical fuel pump -- R1674.00
Inline filters x2 -- R80.00
Fuel line at the tank in and out -- R120.00
Rubber flange adapters that mount carbs to intake manifold x2 -- R1894.00
Rubber bleed hose for carb balancing -- Free of charge
Carbs taken to Glen, authorized rotax service agent, checked out and balanced, throttle cable set, choke cables set etc etc

Went out for a test flight this afternoon in the circuit at FASI -- did an hour or steep turns, dives, touch and goes, steep climbs, side slips and all is 100% sorted. Fuel pressure with mechanical pump running only is now 0.38 bar and touches up to 0.4bar on occasion. Previously this was 0.3bar. now with the electric pump on the pressures rises slightly and remains constant throughout throttle position and engine RPM.

She now climbs like the cheetah with the 912extra is supposed to 1200feet per minute with myself and a pax weighing 85kgs in the plane with 35liters of fuel.

I'm happy as a pig in shite  vhpy (^^)

Anyways this was an expensive lesson, and boils down to maintenance issues on a plane with minimal hours on it, BUT old in years... Things perish and wear even when not in use. Take care of your aeries guys, even if they are standing in the hangar.
