Can anybody tell me if this runway is still in use? I have spoken to the resort and they dont have a clue.
Also if not in use what other airfields are closer than Carolina to Badplaas? , and does someone perhaps have a contact in Carolina which I can contact
Kind regards

That's an excellent question, I would like to go to the forever farm there in badplaas, better than the one in warm baths...
Prefer to fly there if there is a landing strip nearby.

I believe there used to be a dirt strip there- previously Overval Resorts.
According to the ou manne pilots, they even had a Misasa fly In but after k@k weather and many not pitching the initiative got lost.
Definately no strip there now and unlikely the operators will have a clue.

Badplaas had a municipal strip and the resort had a very short microlight strip.
Both U/S the municipal strip is now the main road of the local shanty town. Evadance of both can be seen on google.
The Africa cup event was held there about 12 years ago.

No there is no runway close to Badplaas Forever resort. In Carolina there is a 800m grass runway on oom Fred Sturgess' (zeroeighttwofourdoublefivezerodoubleseventhree)farm about 4km NW of Carolina next to the main road from Carolina towards the N4 (Wonderfontein). Do not have GPS coordinates, but can get, and then there is a small strip about 400m long on the West side of Vygeboom Dam,(Next to the waters edge) where we often fly to and have a cup of coffie with local residents with trikes and Kitfox. Cessna 172 also lands there. S 25deg45.476min E 030deg59.151min.oom Machiel Jansen is the contact person there (zeroeightdoublethreesevendoublefiveonesixty)
Need more info, contact me.

I drove my Fortuner down the one at Vygeboom about a year ago, and I would not put anything down there. It is really rough. Check with PJL on AvCom - he goes to the dam regularly and also advised to stay away from the strip.

No Man.
Sukkelaar landed on another strip close to the dam wall with no problem on Tuesday morning. Not even the ones that we often use. There is a nice 800m long strip inside one of the security complexes that is being maintained to a very high standard but we are not allowed to land there. The strip on the east side of the dam at the "inloop" side, is not as smooth as the irfield runways but definately landable without any bumps.(Only obstacle is cattle dung). At the end of the strip there is a a steep"ish" uphill to the apron where we tie down our aircraft for the night on a cable on the ground.
Come now, come join us on a flight to Vygeboom.

Any chance of pics and google location? We have a house at the dam, but only get there every few years - just too far to drive from here.

Will do.
Will go and check out my pic's on laptop. Will take photos of all the strips that I know off and post them with the GPS plots.
