Bought me a Ryan Navion

Hey all,

I took the plunge and bought myself a Ryan Navion, the project is 90percent complete, it was Willie Coetsers ol plane, and has been refurbed from the ground up. Almost everything on the plane is new, with a 225HP zero times engine, and zero timed constant speed hartzel prop.

New interior, polished airframe, newly covered leather seats, new carpets, new roof liner, painted nose cowl, tail and wing tips. Brand new glass still in covering, spare canopy, wings, skins, stringers, 3 engines in parts, starters, pumps, Bendix, etc etc etc

Work to be done :-

Interior to be installed
Glass to be installed
Avionics to be installed
Hydraulics to be connected
Tail and painted bits to be fitted

Then flown.....

Oops almost forgot, need my PPL too, back to the studies!! vhpy

Turbo,

You are one of the most passionate aviators I have come across for a while... hope that never dies...

I am sure you are going to love finishing your new baby as much as you are going to enjoy flying her...

All the best

Craig

ag thanks guys --- its been flat out for me and Aidan at rhe hangar working like mad painting and cleaning and paving and and .... all looking good now!

here's the plan - we removing a moerse tree that used to live next to the side of the hangar today (80% complete already) which i feel a bit bad for doing to be honest!
then we extending the hangar 3meters on either side, so we can have a planning area/office and obviously the fridge and other lekker bits go in too vhpy

I am seeing an AP today who is going to pop in for an inspection and provide some direction (remember this will be my first time building an aircraft) and then we get started building ... the goal is to have her in the air some time in November --- (yes i know, i have heard it from all the guys at the hangar ....its a years worth of work and and ) but they done know me yet and Aidan yet, when we decide on something, we jump in all twee pote en kak af tot die einde.... :)

We pumped the stantions with nitrogen yesterday so the plane is now officially 7 inches higher .... she is a beast! today we purchasing the relevant fittings for the hydraulics (we importers for aeromotive fittings so that saves us some bucks and makes the bits and pieces look nice too.... vhpy

regards the turbo --- the plane came with many many spares, including 4 engine casings, of which 2 sets are perfect for re-use, cranks, pistons, cylinders, heads, cams, carbs etc --- a little itch has been bothering me to build one up but modify the hell out of it just for a ground runner that can be shown off on an engine dyno ... something like a 600HP+ monster turbo engine (i doubt anyone will sign it off for flight though ...

..... unless we keep the plane for low pass screaming fly overs --- hehe ---if the donkey decides to quit (which i doubt) then you simply pull up and turn her around and land again..... sounds a bit reckless dont you think ... damn the little boy in me is coming out again hehehe ## ##
