I am looking for information on whether there exists a limit with regards to non certified and certified planes that can be used for hour building purposes, ie. I know the limitiations for a light sport rating is 600kg which has a vast number of options availible in this class. However can any one the light sport planes be used for hour building on a PPL. The reason I ask is that I have a Thunderbird which has a mauw of 450kg and according to RAASA does not qualify for PPL training or hours. I would thus like to upgrade to something that I can fly with my NPL and my daughter can fly with her PPL, eg. Does a Savannah, CH750, etc. fall into this class/band?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Piet,
Thanks for the reply. I will keep the Jabi in the back of the mind however, I am looking at a STOL plane that could be used 'on' and 'off' airport, ie. tar, gravel, grass, etc.

Bundy thanks I will give her a call
Henry yes the sling is a very nice plane but I think she needs a bit more runway than the other options mentioned and also not sure what their 'off-road' capability is.......... I know they can land on the beach very nicely.... heheh.

Agree - look at some you tube clips for CH 701's and even the 4seater CH801.
Their new 750 cruiser can do what the sling does, while you're sitting in the wing's shade.
(taking nothing away from the sling)
The exchange rate might however affect the final decision.

Yes on most light sport planes the hours count 1:1. I maintain my PPL by flying the Bushbabies, Explorer's and Safari's
