Help needed - Buying a microlight

Who on the forum could help me - I am new to the sport and can buy a microlight but would like someone with more knowledge to look at the specs and advise accordingly.

Your best option would be to start with a chat to the person who has converted you onto mpl from ppl...
Where are you based? If you have not yet converted, I am sure the guys on here can recommend who you can look at converting through...

If you are near Centurion, I would strongly recommend Centurion Flight Center... They can offer both WCM and tri axis... Flo and Francois are amazing in terms of putting you on the right track...

With both WCM and tri axis available, the list of what you could look at is only limited by your budget...

Make sure you have flown in the same type before you look at buying...

I am in PE and have not converted yet, I merely want to find out whether the microlight is a good buy - I trust the person I am buying it from, but dont know if this is the ideal trike for a beginner

It depends on your requirements. If flying one up at sea level within 100 miles of your base consider a 503 trike.

If you're more adventurous, weigh 100kg plus and want to load your big mates then go straight for a 582.

You get what you pay for so I would advise spend as much as you can on a low mile -sub 200 hour newish trike. Buying bottom range, engine maintenance and upgrading accessories might over capitilise your resale value.

Best is go to an active field and speak to as many guys and bum as many flips a possible.

Why not give us some details about the Trike you are looking at, and at what price... (assuming it's a trike) or the details of the tri axis if it is one of them...

Do not buy something you are unsure of. Most instructors will be very helpful if you ask them their opinion.

Is a microlight a good buy? Well...in my case... i'd say HELL YEAH! ....but I'm biased of course as I love my samoosa.

...depends on many things....

Your budget, type of flying you wish to do, location, runway length, range, speed and ability to afford the upkeep and flying time will all need to be factored in when deciding what type of aircraft you want to buy....then you can start sifting through the various options within the specific type.

Go book a few intro flights or bum a ride from a willing pilot or three and then you can start short listing the options.

Just don't feel hussled into buying someone's vintage bargain, covered in dust, has'nt flown in a year but is the best, safest, strongest, stalwart of microlighting.
