Microlighters

Morning all,

As you may have read some of us are heading down to Standerton (Beginsel) for James's B Day bash next weekend. We will be flying from FABA (MLand) and with the high chance of encountering some morning fog near our destination at this time of year I would like to have as many Alternates as possible close to Standerton.

What are the conditions of Secunda/Evander airfields? I think Secunda is closed for maintenance?
Any crop duster/private strips strips in the area we can jot down?

I'd appreciate some Co ords of friendly landing grounds from those who know the area.

My planned route...

Delmas, then Evander 11/29 which is officially closed 20 years ago because the mine who owned the strip laid a pipeline over the runway, which seems to be removed, so can land but really in an emergancy.

Secunda will be open, use 11/29 grass, north by 200 metres and parralel to the tar runway.

There is a crops sprayer strip mid way between Secunda and Lekoa Lodge, or about 15 miles South West from Secunda. Sorry dont have co-ords.

Speak to Riaan (his no on the link) regarding crop sprayer fields in the area (o ja, ...crop dusting is a fugly outdated American term... )

The dirt strip will be avialble, just use caution in partular oblivious contractors mulling around the place.

Plenty " plaaspaaie " in the area in an emergency
