Open Cockpit - Namibie- 2013.

Postby Louis Cole » Sun Apr 28, 2013 7:29 pm

Net in case, my plaaslike no is +264 81 378 6776.

If you need assistance between Keetmanshopeloos and Rietfontein let me know, will see what I can arrange. They might be full of crap at Rietfontein border if crossing with a Microlight, all depends whom is on duty and what mood they are in.

Hi Louis

If you follow the route from KHP to Rietfontein rather plan your trip as if their is no fuel available at Aroab, at times when it is most critical like over the Easter weekend this year they were out of fuel at the only filling station in town.

When do you expect to return? I will be in the Aroab area for the 1st 2 weeks in July.

Regards

Thanks for the advice with the fuel. We will keep it in mind and make sure our support vehicle fills the cans at KMH. Our schedule in toto will pretty much be a lottery as we have no particular route or schedule except that we have two months to fly Namibia from south to north and our trip back has 3 alternative routes. Firstly back through Namibia through Rietfontein to Upington, secondly via Botswana through Gaberone to Pilanesberg and lastly via Livingstone, Vic Falls through Limpopo Valley to Polokwane. I guess everything will depend on the renowned hospitality of the Namibians. The response so far has been great. Realistically I think it will be closer to 5 or 6 weeks rather than 8 weeks. We will be blogging daily on our website so our progress will be easy to follow. Really hope we could meet in Aroab.

Hi Louis,

If you do decide on the Limpopo Valley route, I will be able to offer hangarage and arrange fuel and accommodation in Musina. However, the shortest route from Francistown to Polokwane is via Alldays, where I am sure Pieter Smith will be more than willing to assist.

Safe journey!

Hoe se die Engelse: "Quantum physics will always be hard for a brain designed to remember where the best bananas are."

Jis Louis
Ek bly in Walvisbaai en sal julle ouens graag wil help man.
You're in for the time of your life!
Cheers
