Microlighters

And next on my list of vintage microlights is the Eagle, were any two seaters imported into SA?
If I remember correctly after speaking to Romauld the designer a few years back, the Eagle is the only microlight in which nobody was ever killed!

I have got a single seater American Aerolights Eagle. I dont think that any two-seaters were ever brought into the country. After I bought the plane in the late 80's, I was told that I could convert it to a two seater by adding an extra seat (sling seats) but thought that would be dicey as the Cuyuna engine does not enjoy running at full revs in this hot place. I heard of two guys that pranged with these planes but cant remember if either of them died. Long time ago.

Still have my G. Killey, MFledge, single seat hanging in my garage. Early 80's. Many died flying them. Sorry didn't mean to high jack your thread. Don't remember ever seeing a two seat Eagle. You could also ask Fred Blockland, he flew Eagle's and Fledge's. Oh ate three 256 one ate 7 three.

Thanks- it was a conversation with Fred last week that brought all these memories back. I still have the Pfledge on my license.
Seems us old flyers have managed to survive. I used to do a lot of new type tests and I count 32 crashes in my history.

Hi Storch..i think is no more than 5 aerolites falcon in the country ,all single seat..

Any idea of who the owners are?

Thanks - I decided not to fly my fledge again. It will cost too much to get an ATF, and as Fred put it, doing a preflight on her is life threatening. Technology has come a long way since then. I can only boast 3 incidents?. Luckily, I walked away from all of them. Those days it was self taught flying skills Knowing what I know now...I am very very lucky to have survived. Ironical but the Falcon in the picture is the first type of Ultralight my brother, who is living in the USA, flew in the late 80's. He's been there since 1980. He now flies other stuff, non LSA.
